This is because the phrase we are going to teach is ‘not half’. Two simple words – but you need to know what they mean when used together.

这是一个由两个非常简单的英语单词组成的表达“not half”，大家可以先根据我和 Neil 接下来的小对话猜猜“not half”的意思。比如，我问 Neil，“Neil, you really enjoyed that pizza, didn’t you?”

Not half! I love pizza. And , you love playing darts, don’t you?

Ahh, that was a funny example. Now, before we go – let’s teach a variation of this phrase.

In this version, we have ‘not half’ followed by an adjective. For example: I just got back from Singapore. It’s not half expensive.

我们还可以在 not half 后加形容词。比如，“It’s not half expensive”的意思就是“It’s very expensive”。“Not half expensive”的意思是“非常贵”，就好比我们汉语里常说的“不是一点儿贵，是非常贵”。Your new haircut is not half nice, Neil!
