Rolling in it 财源滚滚,腰缠万贯 Rolling in it 财源滚滚,腰缠万贯1

Play audio file 内容简介 Neil 在录音间的地上打滚,原来是为了给大家介绍一个和财富有关的表达。听节目,菲菲帮忙解释这个和“钱”有关的表达的意思及用法。

Neil

Hello and welcome to Authentic Real English with me, Neil...

...and me, . 在本期节目里,我们要给大家介绍的这个表达和“钱”有关,而且是很多钱。In this programme, we've got an expression which means 'to be very rich'.

Neil

And, as usual, in order to demonstrate the meaning of something, I'm going to make a fool of myself. Now, , please describe what I'm doing.

我来试着给大家描述一下 Neil 现在在干什么:now Neil is rolling around on the floor covered in... money.

Neil

So, , how much money does someone need to roll in it?

Lots!

Neil

And so we have an expression in English - 'to be rolling in it'. It means to be extremely rich.

That's right. 想象一个人有特别多钱,多到他可以在钱里打滚 - to be rolling in it,这也正是我们要给大家介绍的表达。我们可以用 to be rolling in it 来形容某人非常有钱,财源滚滚,腰缠万贯。Now, get up Neil.

Neil

OK. Here are some examples.

Examples

Carlos is always moaning about lack of money but his parents are rolling in it, so he should just ask them for some.

Since tuition fees have been introduced, you need to be rolling in it to afford university.

My neighbours must be rolling in it - they're having a swimming pool and tennis court built in their garden.

Neil

So, there we are - if we say someone is 'rolling in it' they are very rich.

I'd love to be rolling in it.

Neil

OK then - come and join me!

No, I mean that I'd like to be rich - but that does look quite fun actually... woah!
