　　题一：

　　According to a recent survey, about 25 percent of college students have a part-time job. During the summer vacation, this figure will increase to 72 percent. College students are working as tutors, waiters or salesmen, etc.

　　Why do college students want part-time jobs? The main reason is that they hope to be economically independent. If so, they can buy whatever they need in daily life. And meanwhile, they may help cover their increasing college tuition.

　　I think that it is good for college students to do part-time jobs. By doing part-time jobs, they can gain some society experience and broaden their outlook. What’s more, part-time jobs can provide them with a valuable opportunity to know the outside world.

　　题二：

　　Forty teenage reporters from different middle schools in our city paid a visit to the Economic Development Zone and had an interview with Wang Qinghai, head of the Zone, on September 15 th, 2010.

　　At the interview, the reporters asked Mr Wang about what achievements they made last year, how they were to attract more investment and how the zone would be developing over the next three years. Mr Wang gave them satisfactory answers.

　　They used modern equipment, such as digital cameras and recording pens besides pens and note – books at the interview. They were deeply impressed by the first – class design of the zone, as well as beautiful trees and grass and modern buildings there.

　　In fact, you Can see many such examples in life. Just as the old saying goes, diligence leads to success while laziness results in failure. Every task requires hard work, from learning English to building a house. Some of my classmates are definitely clever, and they have a strong desire to go to a famous university, but unfortunately, they ate wasting time talking or playing. And consequently, they end in failure.

　　Therefore, in my opinion, diligence plays a very important role in life. Only by working hard and practicing a lot, are we able to overcome difficulties and achieve our goals. No one can succeed just by thinking without any actions.

　　In the picture, four people are trying to fill a vat with water. Two men are carrying water while two others are pouring water into the vat. However, with so many loopholes at the bottom of the vat, they’ll never store any water, because no one tries to fill the holes.

　　It reminds me of the problems in our studies. While studying, we always go to great lengths to read more books, and to do more exercises. However, after we finish the exercises, we seldom pay attention to the mistakes we’ve made, nor do we try to correct and avoid them. Therefore, a “hole” is left. Day by day, the “holes”, or rather the shortages, get more and more. No matter how many books we’ve read, we have never accumulated any knowledge. They have leaked out because of the hole.

　　So that’s why we say learning is a way to accumulate. We should pay attention to the mistakes we’ve made and the holes we have in our studies as well as the new knowledge. Only in that way can we accumulate much more knowledge, which can be put to use in the future.

　　My Opinion on Cheating in Examinations

　　It is known to us all that some students cheat in examinations at school.

　　As students, we often take examinations at school, but sometimes we have too many examinations which are too difficult for us. On the other hand, some of us are lazy and don’t work hard at their lessons. So when taking examinations, they sometimes cheat in order to get better results to please their parents and teachers.

　　In my opinion, it is wrong to cheat in examinations because it breaks the rules of schools, we students should be honest and try to get good results by studying hard instead of cheating in examinations. What’s more, we should improve our study methods and get well prepared for examinations.

　　Most students of our school, including me, are against the construction of a chemical works near our school.

　　Although the works will make a lot of money for our city, we do think it will do us more harm than good. The drinking water will be badly polluted. Of course, they have promised to do something to prevent the water from being polluted, however, it is far from enough. On the other hand, the air over the city will be polluted too. We will never be able to breathe fresh air. How can we live here any longer? Last but not the least, the site of the works to be built has been the only place where we students play games and have sports after school. Where would we go if it were occupied?
