Arsenal enjoyed an easy 4-1 win over Wolverhampton in the English Premier League on Saturday while Manchester City extended their drawing-streak to five after a 3-3 tie against Burnley. Wolverhampton tried to depress their formidable rivals with attacking, but just to expose more space for the Gunners counterattack, they then suffered two own goals successively.
After 28 minutes, Ronald Zubar turned Cesc Fabregas's corner into his own net as the defender seemed paying too much attention to Arsenal striker Eduardo next to him. Eduardo shot comfortably in a rapid counterattack eight minutes later, watching the ball curled into the right top of the net after hitting Jody Craddock's head.
There was no sign of coming back for the Wolves as Fabregas scored Arsenal's third before the break. Russian striker Andrey Arshavin added a fourth by rifling from the edge of the box in the66th minutes.
The Wolves were comforted a bit as Craddock nodded into the right goalmouth with one minute remaining in the second half.
Both Arsenal and Manchester United have 25 points now and the Red Devils are going to challenge top-positioned Chelsea with 27 points at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
After taking victory in five out of their first six Premier League matches this term, Man City seemed to have lost their winning power. When they encountered newly-promoted Burnley at home, they still failed to collect three points.
Burnley enabled to lead 2-0 as Steven Fletcher clipped in Chris Eagles' cross after Graham Alexander opened the score from penalty spot in the 19th minutes.
Shaun Wright-Phillips chased one back for the hosts as he fired home with two minutes left in the first period.
Man City looked sharper in the second half by claiming two goals within three minutes. Kolo Toure drove in the equalizer in the 55th minute before Craig Bellamy scored from inside the area.
Man City kept testing the visitors' defence later but it's Burnley who grasped the last chance. Kevin McDonald slotted home on 87 minutes to level the game at 3-3.
Tottenham Spur, beating Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday, replaced Man City in the fourth place of the standings.
Also on Saturday, Aston Villa thrashed Boton 5-1 and Blackburn defeated Portsmouth 3-1.
