Zao Fu been learning to drive from Tai Dou for three years, but Tai Dou did not tell him anything about driving, which only added to his respect for his teacher.

One day, Tai Dou told Zao Fu, "Learning to drive must begin with learning to walk, as long as you can walk as fast as I do, you can succeed in driving a carriage pulled by six horses." Tai Dou erected1 a line of stumps2, and walked on them as flying, never falling down. In only three days, Zao Fu grasped this method, and soon afterwards mastered all the essential skills for driving.

造父跟泰豆学习驾车。三年间，泰豆从未告诉他一句有关驾车方法的话，但造父对师父却更加恭敬。

一天，泰豆告诉造父：“学驾车必须先从走路学起，只要你走路赶得上我，就可以成功地驾驭六匹马拉的车子。”泰豆竖起一排木桩，在上面快步如飞，却从没掉下来。三天功夫，造父就学会了这种方法，很快便掌握了驾车的全部要领。
