JAKARTA, Aug. 26 -- Both Chinese men's and women's table tennis teams won three group matches in a row to kick off their campaign at the 18th Asian Games here on Sunday.
Chinese women's team beat Iran, India and Qatar 3-0, with all five paddlers featuring in matches.
"We faced a little resistance against India, which may prove good for us in future matches," admitted Li Sun, the Chinese team's coach.
Most paddlers in Chinese squad featured in Jakarta without having played at the Games. For Li, those young players didn't show any sign of failing to adjust themselves to major tournaments.
"They were not nervous as expected, and implemented their plans in routine. Everyone in the team encourages each other, which is of great importance in team events," Li pointed out.
Chinese men's side also swept Nepal, Malaysia and DPR Korea in Group A matches.
They will take on Laos in the final group match on Monday morning, before playing the quarterfinals in the evening.
