中国民间故事传说：奇怪的名字

An old man who lived in the country had given his two sons very strange names.

He named his elder son "Thief", the younger one "Hit".

One day "Thief" had just stepped out of the door when something occurred to his father. To call him back, his father shouted behind him, "Thief! Thief!" The officers heard his cry and caught and tied up "Thief". This flustered the father, and he was about to ask "Hit". The officers, hearing this, punched "Thief" badly. If the father had not come up, the officers could have nearly killed "Thief".

一位老人住在乡下，给自己的两个儿子各起了一个奇怪的名字。

老大叫“盗”,老二叫“殴”。

一天，大儿子“盗”出门，老人想起一件事，想把他喊回来。就跟在后面边追边喊：“盗!盗!”过路的官吏听到喊声，就把“盗”抓住捆了起来。做父亲的慌了，急忙叫“殴”去向官吏说明情由，但一时情急，说话转不过弯来，只顾喊“殴!殴!”官吏听了，抡起拳头就朝“盗”劈头盖脸地打过去，要不是老人赶上来，“盗”差点就死在官吏的手下。
