Most people would agree that buildings represent a valuable record of any societys past, but controversy arises when old buildings stand on ground that modern planners feel could be better used for modern purposes. In such situations, modern development should be given precedence over the preservation of historic buildings so that contemporary needs can be served.
观点：不能像上文那么讲的那么绝对，不能仅仅因为满足现在需求，就拆老建筑，我们要具体问题具体分析，尽量不拆。
老建筑对我们人类来讲很重要，是一种精神象征。
我们不能因为一些物质上面的追求，就拆除老建筑。
但是确实在某些情况，我们必须牺牲老建筑。
总的来说，不能为了短期的物质需求，我们尽量不要拆老建筑，他代表一种永久的精神。
