一次失败的实验

最近这几天，我们学校的走廊上全都是在津津有味地用放大镜来取火的人。有的烧了白纸，有的烧了树叶，有的甚至烧了铅笔。刚好今天是星期六，我也想做做这个实验。

In recent days, the corridor of our school is full of people who are using magnifying glass to get fire with relish. Some burn white paper, some burn leaves, some even burn pencils. It's Saturday. I want to do the experiment.

早上太阳出来了，我带着放大镜和纸下楼。我用放大镜对准太阳，再在下面垫上一张纸，纸上出现一个大圆圈。我把放大镜左右上下移动，终于出现了一个光亮的小圆点。我坐在那里一动不动，可是过了好久纸也没烧着，于是我就想：可能现在的太阳还不猛烈，中午再来吧！

In the morning, when the sun came out, I went downstairs with a magnifying glass and paper. I used a magnifying glass to aim at the sun, and then put a piece of paper under it. A big circle appeared on the paper. I moved the magnifying glass up and down, and finally a small bright dot appeared. I sat there motionless, but the paper didn't burn after a long time, so I thought: maybe the sun is not strong now, come back at noon!

到了中午，我迫不及待地跑下楼，坐在烈日下摆弄放大镜。过了一会儿，我已经满头大汗，可是纸没一点变化，还是耐心等待吧。又过了半个小时，我已经耐不住了，我摸了一下纸，一点儿也不热。我确定实验失败了，只好垂头丧气地回家了。

At noon, I can't wait to run downstairs and sit under the hot sun to get a magnifying glass. After a while, I've been sweating, but the paper hasn't changed a bit, so I'd better wait patiently. After another half hour, I couldn't stand it anymore. I touched the paper and it wasn't hot at all. I'm sure the experiment failed, so I have to go home in despair.
