“艺术家”的狗狗受追捧

On February 12 （local time）, silent movie "The Artist" won seven awards at the BAFTAs——the biggest ceremony of the British film industry, making it a favorite for the Oscars this year. It won awards for best film, best director, best original screenplay, best original music, best cinematography, best costume design as well as a performance award for leading actor Jean Dujardin.

However, Uggie the dog in "The Artist" have no chance to win an Oscar award, because the Academy has had strict rules for more than 80 years, excluding animals from its consideration. The Academy is still trying to establish itself as a serious awards program and the idea of giving awards to animals, despite the public's deep admiration for the animal actors, would decrease its prestige.

然而，《艺术家》中的狗狗Uggie却没有机会获得一项奥斯卡大奖，因为80多年来奥斯卡奖一直有着严格的规定，将动物排除在其考虑的范围之外。奥斯卡奖始终将自己视为一个严肃的奖项，而为动物们颁奖会削弱奖项的分量，即使是颁给大众非常喜欢的动物角色。

But audiences have fallen in love with Uggie, the dog in "The Artist". The 10-year-old Jack Russell Terrier plays the best friend of Dujardin and steals the show in the silent film. His vocal range doesn't come into play, but his courage and humor do.

但观众们已经爱上了《艺术家》中的狗狗乌吉。这只10岁的杰克罗素梗犬在这部无声电影中扮演杜雅尔丹最好的朋友，在里面抢尽了风头。他表演时不能发出声音，但是他的勇气和幽默都展现了出来。

The talented dog has got much support across the Internet. Over 9,000 people hope the Academy Award would allow animals to compete for the awards. With the recent buzz for Uggie, many have been asking whether the Academy should revise its rules.

聪明的乌吉在网上赢得了众多支持。有9000多人希望奥斯卡奖能允许动物们参与评选。随着人们近来对乌吉的喜爱，许多人质疑学院奖是否应该修改其评选规则。

Now, Uggie has received the "Best Dog in a Theatrical Film" award in Dog News Daily's first ever "Golden Collar Awards". That is, he has picked up the animal equivalent of an Oscar. And he has been named "Best Scene Stealer" by the American Humane Association.

目前，乌吉已在《每日犬报》设立的首届"金项圈奖"中夺得了"狗狗影帝"的称号。也就是说，乌吉获得了动物界的奥斯卡奖。此外，美国人道主义协会还颁给乌吉“最佳抢镜奖”。
