 Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho will watch from the stands as his side plays its final game of the group stage of the Champions League this Wednesday.

Mourinho is suspended for the game against Auxerre after giving instructions to Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso to earn themselves red cards in their last Champions League game.

That action earned Mourinho a touchline ban from UEFA, although the governing body of European football this week decided to lift the conditional suspension it had given him in case he repeated his action.

Alonso and Ramos are both suspended for the Auxerre game, but that means they will now be free of cards for when their side begins the knockout stage of the Champions League in the New Year.

Mourinho will use the game as the chance to rest other key players and Karim Benzema will get another opportunity to impress in attack. It is an important match for the former Lyon striker, who was substitute against Valencia at the weekend despite the back injury suffered by Gonzalo Higuain.

Dudek could get his first game of the season in goal, while Arbeloa and Pedro Leon will also play the 90 minutes.

While Madrid are already assured of finishing top of group G, their rivals have got something to play for: Auxerre kick off the group a point behind third placed Ajax and need at least a draw to have a chance of qualifying for the Europa league.

Ajax are in chaos following Monday' s resignation of coach Martin Jol and Auxerre will think they have a chance of continuing their European adventure, all be it in a lesser competition.
