A person feared his own shadow and loathed(讨厌) his own footprints, and wanted to leave behind his shadow and footprints very much.

So he ran faster and faster, and left more and more footprints. And his shadow chased him faster and faster. But he thought it was because he did not run fast enough. Then he ran forward even faster. In the end he died of exhaustion on the road. He did not know that if he hid in shady palaces, there would be no shadow. If he stopped there would be no more footprints. How stupid the person was!

有一个人害怕自己的影子，讨厌自己的脚印，一心想甩开自己的影子和脚印跑掉。

结果，他走得越快，留下的脚印就越多;跑得越急，影子也追得越紧。他自己却认为甩不开影子和脚印是跑得太慢，于是更加拼命往前跑，最后终于因用尽力气而累死在路上。他不知道阴暗的地方就不会有影子，停住不动就不会有影子，这个人实在太愚蠢了。
