独守空房的“挂钥匙妻子”

　　放学后独自在家无人照看的儿童被称为“挂钥匙儿童”，而因为丈夫上夜班不得不独守空房的妻子则相应地被称为latchkey wife（挂钥匙妻子）。

　　“Latchkey wife” is based on the phrase "latchkey kid." “Latchkey wife” refers to a wife who comes home from work to an empty house, left to her own defenses during the evening, while husband works opposite shift.

　　“挂钥匙妻子”是基于“挂钥匙儿童”而产生的新词。“挂钥匙妻子”指那些因为丈夫值夜班而不得不下班后独守空房的妻子。

　　Example:

　　Because of her time alone, the latchkey wife was free to have complete control over the remote control and the computer with no interruptions!

　　因为有大量独处的时间，“挂钥匙妻子”可以完全自主不受干扰地使用遥控和电脑。
