A father and a son were passing Zhao Fu's field when their horse got frightened and refused to move.

The sweating father and son went to ask for Zhao Fu's help to push the cart.

Zhao Fu said yes and put his hoe(锄头) on the cart and took over the rein from the son. He gently holds the bridle(缰绳) of the horse, and before he raised the whip the horse had begun to run.

父子俩驾车从造父的田边经过时，马受了惊，怎么也不肯走动。

累得满头大汗的父子俩跑过来请造父帮他们推车。

造父答应了他们的要求，拾起田里锄头，放在车上，从儿子的手中接过缰绳，轻轻地揽了揽马的辔头，不等他挥起鞭子，马已经开始跑动起来.
