Alexia Sloane lost her sight at the age of two after she was diagnosed with a brain tumour and underwent 18 months of gruelling chemotherapy. Alexia has excelled at languages and is now learning German She has already achieved two As for GCSEs in French and Spanish, which she took aged nine, and is now learning Arabic and Russian.
Alexia said: I love learning languages. Spanish and French were quite easy to learn, but Chinese is hard because you have to get the tones perfect. My way of looking at is that without language we wouldnt know anything about the world. At the age of six I said to my mother I wanted to learn another language and she said alright how about Chinese?. So I did. I want to learn Arabic and Russian next. Alexia with her mother Isabelle. At 10-years-old she has become the youngest interpreter to work at the European Parliament and she is blind
