语法与惯用法知识点：一道高考英语题的惯用法问题探讨

　　2009年高考英语的湖南卷有这样一道题：

　　 The food here is nice enough.

　　 My friend ________ me a right place.

　　A. introduces B. introduced C. had introduced D. was introducing

　　选对该题的答案并不难：根据对话内容可知，此刻说话者就在其朋友介绍的那个餐馆用餐，所以其朋友给他们介绍这家餐馆肯定是在此之前，故用一般过去时。即选B。

　　但是，笔者认为，这道题中的My friend introduced me a right place一句有两处用法上的问题。

　　1. introduce是否接双宾语的问题

　　从句法上分析，题中My friend introduced me a right place一句的谓语动词introduce后接的是双宾语。但它符合英语习惯吗?请看以下有关用法说明：

　　(1) 我国英语惯用法泰斗葛传椝先生曾在其《英语惯用法词典》(上海译文出版社)上指出：

　　introduce不可有双宾语，如不可说Allow me to introduce you my friend Mr P. D. Porter，该在introduce后面加上to。

　　(2) 英国著名语言学家L. G. Alexander出版的《英语词汇用法手册》(外语教学与研究出版社)认为：

　　可以说：Marion introduced her friends to Tom.

　　但不能说：Marion introduced Tom her friends.

　　(3) 中国国际广播出版社出版的《大学英语重点词正误用法手册》(周贞雄编著)在introduce词条给出的正误句型和有关分析如下：

　　让我把我的朋友介绍给你。

　　误：Let me introduce you my friend.

　　正：Let me introduce my friend to you.

　　析：introduce(介绍)通常不接双宾语。

　　(4) 外文出版社出版的《新时代英语惯用法词典》(王福祯主编)在introduce词条指出：

　　introduce后不可接双宾语。

　　由此可见，introduce后接双宾语的用法不妥的，是不符合英语惯用法的。

　　2. 对introduce的理解和用法问题

　　虽然一般英汉词典都将introduce译为介绍，但这并不是说汉语中的介绍就一定可以用introduce来翻译。下面我们先来看看几本英语词典对introduce在表示介绍时的解释：

　　(1)《剑桥高级英语词典》对introduce的解释是：

　　to tell someone another persons name the first time that they meet(当两个人见面时告诉某人另一个人的名字)

　　(2)《朗文当代英语词典》对introduce的解释是：

　　if you introduce someone to another person, you tell them each others names for the first time(如果你把某人介绍给另一个人，你就是第一次告诉他们彼此的名字)

　　(3)《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》第6版对introduce的相关解释如下：

　　①to tell two or more people who have not met before what each others names are(告诉两个或多个原来未曾见面的人他们彼此的名字)

　　②to tell the audience the name of the person who is going to speak or perform(告诉观众讲演者或演员的名字)

　　由此可见，introduce表示介绍时，主要用于介绍两个不认识的互相认识，或是向听众或观众宣布并介绍演讲者等。如：

　　She introduced me to her brother. 她把我介绍给她哥哥。

　　It is my pleasure to introduce tonights speaker. 我很荣幸来介绍今晚的演讲者。

　　Hi! I thought Id come over and introduce myself. My names Andy. 嗨! 我觉得应该过来自我介绍一下。我叫安迪。

　　On being introduced, British people often shake hands. 英国人被介绍给别人的时候常常和对方握手。

　　现在我们再来看看这道来自湖南卷的高考题：

　　 The food here is nice enough. 这儿的食物相当不错。

　　 My friend introduced me a right place. 我的朋友为我介绍了一个很不错的地方。

　　很显然，句中的introduce不是在介绍人们互相认识，而是在为某人介绍一个地方，而这与introduce的用法显然并不吻合。

　　事实上，题干中说的介绍，其实是指推荐，所以我们认为应将句中的introduce改为recommend，即应改为：

　　My friend recommended me a right place.(www.yygrammar.com)

　　英语惯用法专家葛传椝教授在其《英语惯用法词典》(上海译文出版社)上指出：

　　说介绍书报等，该用recommend，不该用introduce，如可以说Can you recommend (me) a dictionary? 不可说 Can you introduce (me) a dictionary?

　　下面我们再来看看两个用recommend表示介绍的例子：

　　Can you recommend me a good novel? 你给我介绍一本好的小说行吗? (摘自《牛津高阶英汉双解词典》第6版recommend词条)

　　Jamie sought out an inexpensive boarding-house recommended to him by a sailor aboard ship. 杰米找到了一个便宜的供膳宿舍，那是船上一名水手向他介绍的。(摘自《薄冰高级英语语法》第3.61节)

　　顺便说一句，还经常听到有的人在表示介绍情况介绍某学校介绍某国家介绍某机构等场合使用introduce，其实也是对introduce的误用。如：

　　◎班上的同学互相介绍自己的国家。

　　误：The students in the class introduced their own countries to each other.

　　正：The students in the class told each other about their own countries.

　　◎现在我们的美国朋友要向大家介绍她自己的研究情况。

　　误：Our friend from America will now introduce her research to us.

　　正：Our friend from America will now tell us about her research.

　　◎莎士比亚的戏剧向我们介绍了当时生活的许多情况。

　　误：Shakespeares plays introduce to us a lot about contemporary life.

　　正：Shakespeares plays tell us a lot about contemporary life.

　　◎在今天晚上的节目中我们重点介绍德国。

　　误：In tonights programme our focus is to introduce Germany.

　　正：In tonights programme our focus is on Germany
