SARAJEVO, Oct. 6 -- British army contingent arrives with their equipment ready for the EUFOR-led peace support operation exercise "Quick Response 2017" on Friday afternoon at the Sarajevo International Airport (SIA).
British soldiers with vehicles and equipment have arrived with an Antonov 124, one of the biggest airplanes in the world, to Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) capital Sarajevo.
At the SIA, Commander EUFOR Major General Anton Waldner emphasized that EUFOR is capable of reacting at any time, at any location in BiH and on any security threat, and that they have mechanisms to timely allocate reserve forces, all in support the efforts of BiH government to maintain safe environment here.
"This exercise intends to train the EUFOR's ability to invoke spare forces in order to support the maintenance of a safe and stable environment here," Waldner said after the soldiers' arrival.
"Quick Response 2017" is a EUFOR-led peace support operation exercise that will be held from Oct. 11-15. Apart from Sarajevo, the exercise will be held at Pazaric, a city some 30 km southwest of the capital Sarajevo and Kalinovik, some 60 km south.
This will be the first time that BiH law enforcement agencies, BiH Armed Forces and EUFOR will exercise together in realistic scenarios, in order to test their respective contingency plans.
