　　Oriental Fire-bellied Toad inhabits pond s and mountain stream s, and mainly feeds on insects. This small-sized toad grows to about 5cm in length and can live for more than 14 years.

　　Its dull brown or bright green coloured back renders it almost invisible in the muddy margins of the pools and ponds where it lives. The belly is red or orange-red in colour and usually dotted with glossy black spots.

　　When an Oriental Fire-bellied Toad senses danger it will arch its body exposing the brilliant warning spots on its belly to frighten away the intruder.
