Act 1

Scene 1 – on a ship at sea, a tempestuous noise of thunder and lightning heard.

Enter a shipmaster and a boatswain severally.

Master: boatswain!

Boatswain: here, master, what cheer?

Master: good, speak to the mariners; fall to’t yarely, or we run ourselves aground; bestir, bestir.

(exit)

Enter mariners,

Boatswain: heigh, my hearts! Cheerly, cheerly, my hearts! Yare, yare! Take in the topsail, tend to the master’s whistle. –blow, till thou burst thy wind, if room enough!

Enter alonso, sebastian, antonio, ferdinand, gonzalo, and others.

Alonso: good boatswain, have care, where’s the master? Play the men.

Boatswain: I pray now, keep below.

Antonio: where is the master, boson?

Boatswain: do you not hear him? You mar our labour; keep your cabins; you do assist the storm.

Conzalo: nay, good, be patient.

Boatswain: when the sea is, hence! What cares these roarers for the name of king? To cabin: silence! Trouble us not.

第一幕

第一景： 大海中一船上，狂暴的雷电交鸣之声。

船主、水手头目分途上。

船主：头儿！

头目： 在这里，船主，怎么样啦？

船主： 好， 去和水手们说，快去努力工作，否则我们要撞到陆上了，快着，快着。

（下）。

众水手上。

头目： 喂，伙计们！辛苦啦，辛苦啦，伙计们！快点，快点！收到中樯帆。听着船主的笛子。-- 刮吧，刮得你迸破了肺，只消海面上还有空地方！

阿龙索、西巴斯善、安图尼欧、飞蝶南、刚则娄、及其他上。

阿： 好头儿，要小心些。船主在哪里呢？放出些胆量来。

头目： 我请你，下舱里去。

阿：船主在哪里，头儿？

头目： 你没有听见他吗？你们搅乱我们的工作；你们到舱里别出来啦，你们简直是帮着风暴。

刚： 别，好朋友，你放镇静些。

头目： 等海镇静的时候我们就镇静了。去！这风涛还管谁是国王吗？下舱去！别吵！别搅乱我们。
