Beijing will temporarily implement an odd-evenlicense plate scheme from Aug 20 to Sept 3 to easetraffic during the IAAF World athleticschampionships and the parade to celebrate thevictory in the War of Resistance against JapaneseAggresion.

为了缓解国际田联世界田径锦标赛和纪念抗战胜利大阅兵期间的交通问题，8月20至9月3日，北京将实行单双号限行。

Eighty percent of government vehicles in Beijing willbe kept off the road during that period.

Public vehicles, including buses, taxies and police cars, are not covered by the scheme.
