用英语表达“直觉”

　　直觉很难解释清楚，似乎是天生的一种本能，是发自内心的一种惯性。因此英文中还常用gut一词来表示直觉。Gut 这个词本身表示“内脏，在俚语中引申为“内心的感觉，比如：She felt in her gut that he was guilty. 她从心底知道他是有罪的。它又可用作形容词，在俚语中的意思就是“直觉的，比如：I have a gut feeling that the country needs the support of all its people if we are not to fail.我深深觉得，如果我们的国家不想失败的话需要得到全民的支持。

　　不过，若将have guts 理解成“有直觉就错了，gut的复数形式不再表示直觉。用在非正式场合中，have guts表示“有勇气做某事，例如：I don’t believe he has the guts! 我可不相信他有这么大勇气!

　　直觉还可以用hunch来表示，例如：I have a hunch that he didn’t really want to eat. 我有种直觉，他其实不想吃东西。Play one’s hunch 就是“跟着感觉走的意思，比如：He did not know what they were up to, and decided to play his hunch. 他不知道他们想干什么，于是决定凭直觉行事了。
