A: Jed called me a namby-pamby just because I didn’t want to ski on the black run.
B: That black run is too steep and icy. If you’re a namby-pamby then so am I.

A: Jed叫我胆小鬼，就是因为我不愿意在难度最高的滑雪跑道上滑雪。
B: 那个跑道太陡太滑了。要这么说的话我也是胆小鬼了。

A: Jimmy Carter looks so wan these days, really pale and old.
B: But what a good guy – he recently won the Nobel Peace Prize.

A: 近来Jimmy Carter好像是生病了，面无血色，而且看起来很苍老。
B: 可他是个好人——最近刚刚得了诺贝尔和平奖。

【语言点精讲】

namby-pamby: 柔弱感伤的，无病呻吟的；性格软弱的，婆婆妈妈的。也用来指易伤感的人，柔弱的人。
ski: 滑雪。
steep: 坡度陡的。
icy: （结冰后）滑的。
wan: 看起来苍白无力的，不健康的。
