BUENOS AIRES, July 24 -- Striker Diego Forlan scored twice to lead World Cup semifinalists Uruguay to beat Paraguay 3-0 on Sunday for a record 15th Copa America win.

Forlan thus took his international tally to 31, holding tie with Hector Scarone, and completed an incredible family story as he followed his father and grand-father into the record books as a Copa America winner.

Liverpool attacker Luis Suarez, the player of the tournament, was also on target on 12 minutes before Atletico Madrid star Forlan added the second three minutes from the interval.

Paraguay, the champions in 1953 and 1979, had defeated Brazil and Venezuela in penalty shoot-outs in both the quarterfinals and semifinals after the games ended 0-0 in extra-time.
