RIO DE JANEIRO, Feb. 21 -- Chile's Cristian Garin came from a set down to advance to the last four of the Rio Open on Friday by defeating Federico Coria 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 in a rain-interrupted quarterfinal.
Third seed Garin hit seven double faults but won 76 percent of his first service points to take the match in two hours and 15 minutes.
Play was halted for almost an hour at the end of the second set after a tropical downpour at the Jockey Club Brasileiro in Rio de Janeiro's south.
Garin, 23, will play either Borna Coric of Croatia or Italy's Lorenzo Sonego in the semifinals of the ATP 500 event.
The quarterfinal between Austrian top-seed Dominic Thiem and Italy's Gianluca Mager, also scheduled for Friday, was delayed due to the rain.
