'Game of Thrones' creator to serve as executive producer on new fantasy series

George R.R Martin, creator of the hugely popular 'Game of Thrones' series will serve as an executive producer on new series based on fantasy novel, 'Who Fears Death' by Nigerian American author Nnedi Okorafor.

《权力的游戏》作者乔治·雷蒙德·理查德·马丁将担任一部由奇幻小说《谁畏惧死亡》改编的电视剧的监制，该小说的作者是美国黑人作家 Nnedi Okorafor.

Okorafor announced on her social media accounts that her book "has been optioned by HBO and is in now in early development."

此前，Okorafor在他的社交媒体账号中宣称她的书“已经被HBO公司选中，现在正处于早期创编阶段。”

Martin later confirmed the news in a post on his blog.

"I met Nnedi a few years ago, and I'm a great admirer of her work. She's an exciting new talent in our field, with a unique voice," he said.

Martin went on to say he will not be the show runner for the new series and is "doubtful" he will write any episodes. The author is still working on "The Winds of Winter" the sixth novel in the Game of Thrones series.

"Who Fears Death," which was published in 2011, tells the story of Onyeswonu, a child born out of rape in post-apocalyptic Sudan who discovers she has magical superpowers.

《谁畏惧死亡》于2011年出版，主人公名叫Onyeswonu，出生在苏丹末日时代，她的母亲遭到强奸后生下了她，然而后来Onyeswonu自己有神奇的超能力。

The book won the World Fantasy Award for the best novel in 2011.
