DHAKA, Nov. 3 -- A court in Bangladesh's capital gave bail to Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus on Sunday afternoon over the firing of his three employees.
Dhaka 3rd Labour Court acting Chairman Zakia Parveen granted the order when Yunus, chairman of Grameen Communications appeared before the court. He was given bail in connection with three cases filed over the sacking of three employees.
A labor court on Oct. 9 issued a warrant to arrest Yunus as he failed to appear for a scheduled hearing over sacking of three employees of the ICT company which he heads as its chairman.
Yunus was asked to appear along with his Grameen Communications' Managing Director Naznin Sultana and Deputy General Manager Khandaker Abu Abedin over the sacking of those employees for forming a union at their workplace.
Yunus founded Grameen Bank to provide small loans to people, and shared the 2006 Nobel Peace Prize with the organization.
