'The horror genre seems to always have a built-in audience and 'The Possession's' solid performance will kick off a string of horror movies set for the Fall and Holiday period with at least six more in the queue,' Paul Dergarabedian, president of the box-office division of Hollywood.com, said via email. Other coming horror movies include 'House at the End of the Street,' the kiddie movie 'Hotel Transylvania,' and 'Paranormal 4.'

'It's playing remarkably well considering how many theaters it is now playing in, but the per-theater average is of course going down with more empty seats for Clint Eastwood to chat with in theaters,' Mr. Dergarabedian said. He said widespread news coverage of the movie is helping to attract filmgoers. 'Lots of coverage equals huge awareness = big bucks,' he added.
