成龙成首位获封马来西亚拿督华人

Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor defended the award of datukship to Jackie Chan on February 1 by saying the popular Hong Kong actor has a large fan following here.

2月1日，拿督斯里东姑安南部长赞誉著名香港演员成龙在当地拥有庞大粉丝群，并授予他拿督爵位。

The Federal Territories minister also claimed that Chan can help to promote Malaysia, especially its capital, the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

联邦领土部长还声称，成龙可以帮助促进马来西亚，尤其是其首都吉隆坡联邦领土（的发展）。

“ Jacky Chan is an actor with many fans in Malaysia and can promote Malaysia especially Kuala Lumpur and is deserving. ” Tengku Adnan posted on his Twitter account.

拿督斯里东姑安南在他的推特账户里写道：“成龙作为一个在马来西亚拥有众多粉丝的知名影星，可以促进马来西亚，尤其是其首都吉隆坡发展，有极其重要的价值。”

Seventy-one individuals received the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah (PMW) award which carries the title ‘Datuk’ for the 2017 Federal Territory Day, including Chan.

However, many Internet users were amused with his award, especially as Chan attended theceremony wearing songkok, a Malay headgear.

Some also expressed their frustration that the title was awarded to a foreigner, rather than a local.

“For a Malaysian, we know it’s a great honour to be bestowed (not bought) a datukship. It would mean a lot again if these datukships were conferred on Malaysians who actually made the country proud for their contributions to the country.“

In 2008, the state of Malacca had also conferred a Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM) award which carries the title “Datuk” to popular Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.
