体坛英语资讯：Flamengo playmaker Arrascaeta backs Balotelli bid

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 6 -- Flamengo playmaker Giorgian de Arrascaeta said Tuesday that he hopes the Brazilian club's officials are successful in their pursuit of striker Mario Balotelli.

Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim has made public his desire to sign the 28-year-old Italian, who is a free agent after parting ways with Marseille in June.

"[Balotelli] is a player that has many qualities," Arrascaeta told reporters. "He has been criticized for off-field issues, but has played in great teams around the world. His experience in Europe counts for a lot," the Uruguay international added.

Flamengo have made a number of high profile signings in 2019, including former Bayern Munich right-back Rafinha and ex-Atletico Madrid defender Filipe Luis. The club also secured Inter Milan striker Gabriel Barbosa on loan in January.

The five-time Brazilian Serie A champions are currently third in Brazil's 20-top flight standings, eight points behind leaders Santos after 13 rounds.?
