President Barack Obama has been named Time's Person of the Year.

美国总统奥巴马被《时代》周刊评选为2017年度风云人物。

Managing Richard Stengel unveiled the magazine's choice on Wednesday's "Today." He said it was remarkable that the president won two terms with over 50 percent of the popular vote as a Democrat. He also noted that Obama took office in an economic crisis, and credited him with creating a new political "alignment like Ronald Reagan did forty years ago."

Time's Person of the Year is an annual tradition. Last year, the magazine chose "the protestor" in recognition of demonstrations all over the world, including Arab Spring, Occupy Wall Street and the anarchists in Greece.

Time named the eight finalists for 2017's Person of the Year on Tuesday. They included: Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban for her crusade for better girls’ education; Egyptian president Mohamed Morsi; Bill and Hillary Clinton, Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer, Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, and the three scientists who discovered the Higgs Boson particle.

《时代》周刊周二确定了2017年度人物的最终八名入选人物名单，包括：14岁的巴基斯坦少女马拉拉·优萨福扎伊，她因为为巴基斯坦妇女争取更好的教育权利而遭遇塔利班组织武装分子枪击；埃及总统默罕默德·莫尔西；克林顿夫妇；雅虎科技的CEO玛丽莎·梅耶尔；苹果公司的首席执行官蒂姆·库克，以及发现希格斯玻色子的三位科学家。

Last week, Time readers made their choice for Person of the Year, selecting North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in an online poll.
