曝光“最大胆”工程队：毁长城修工厂激起民愤

The destruction of a section of the Great Wall for the purpose of constructing a factory on the site in Shaanxi Province has triggered public furor, Xinhua reported。

The demolished section of the wall located near the village of Wujialing in the city of Yulin attracted attention after an Internet user by the name of "jixuelu" wrote about her observations of the site on Sina Weibo. The post called for people to condemn the act with a photo showing a bulldozer is standing under a weathered tower on the wall。

Other Internet users demanded that people in charge of the project be held criminally liable and officials be punished。

Zhu Jianping, a private entrepreneur who leased the land from the village to build the factory in question, said the section of the wall had been damaged years before the new construction began。

He also said the project had been suspended for a month after failing to receive a construction permit from urban construction authorities。

Dai Feng, a local relic official, said that farmers took clay from the wall in the 1960s and 70s to make bricks at a local brick factory. After the brick plant went bankrupt, the village leased the land to a driving school until last year。

Dai said the relic management bureau issued a circular on Wednesday calling for the relocation of Zhu's plant。

租地建设工厂的私营业主朱建平说，这段长城在施工数年前就被毁了。

他还说，由于城市建设管理部门没下发建筑许可证，该工程暂停了一个月。

当地的一名文物管理官员代锋说，在20世纪60、70年代时农民从墙上取土在当地的一家砖厂造砖。砖厂倒闭后，村里把地租给了一所驾校，一直租到去年。

代锋说，周三文物管理局下达通知，要求朱建平的厂移址。
