HELSINKI, Jan. 7 -- The driver and a three-year-old child were killed in a head-on collision with a heavy truck on Monday, near Sodankyla in northern Finland.
Three others were injured, and two of them seriously, said the police.
The Russian registered car had started bypassing northbound vehicles and was hit by the southbound truck.
The police told the Finnish News Agency STT that bypassing without consideration seemed to be the only reason for the crash.
The road was in a normal condition and there was no rain, police officer Esa Harju said.
The child was on the back seat of the car. The police could not say whether the child used seat belt.
The police told local media that all the five people in the car were from Russia. The truck driver was not injured.
