  阅读理解(共1小题,每小题2分,满分0分)

  阅读下面短文,从每题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出最佳选项。

  B

A group of people decided to climb a mountain together. They thought it was going to be an easy climb, so they laughed and talked among themselves and didn’t notice the sky growing darker. They soon got lost for they couldn’t see very far in front of them. They huddled together that night over a fire.

No one walked too far away from the group by themselves because it would surely lead to death. They sat close to each other throughout the dark hours not just for warmth, but for the fact that staying with the group was their only hope for survival. After what felt like a century, the sun started its slow climb up the sky. They were now able to see as far ahead of them as they liked, so they began to go down the mountain.

They still remained as a group at this time even though there was no real need. A bond (凝聚力) had formed throughout the group that could not be broken or ignored. They knew each other just as well as they knew themselves. As they reached the place where they had started their journey, they knew it was time to say goodbye. Feeling at peace, they bowed (鞠躬) deeply to each other. All of them kept the love they created as a group close to their hearts as they made their way out into the world alone.

  69. What was the difficulty the group of people met in the mountain?

  A. Damaged roads.

  B. Animals’ attack.

  C. Losing their way.

  D. Running out of food.

  70. What was the most important thing they did in order to survive?

  A. They kept close to each other.

  B. They made a fire to keep warm.

  C. They told stories to encourage others.

  D. They sent some people to find the way.

  71. They remained as a group when going down the mountain because ______.

  A. the way was still not clear

  B. they enjoyed being in a group

  C. they needed others to pull them

  D. the way became difficult to walk on

  C

Part-time jobs for 15 and 16 years olds

  Waiter / Waitress

A job as a waiter or waitress is a good choice for 16-year-olds. Not only can one earn $9-$12 an hour, but they can also get the tips (小费). Most people that visit a restaurant don’t just have good food. They come here to relax and have a good time. Besides serving food quickly, a young waiter who talks to them politely with a smile on his face will make the diners enjoy their time at the restaurant.

  Work in a library

If one is fond of books, working in a library is another suitable choice. Besides the pay is good, it offers a lot of free time when students can actually sit down and finish their homework. So on returning home, they would have time to hang around with friends or just relax. So working in a library is an excellent part-time job for teens, especially for school students.

  Internet jobs

There are many ways of making money through online jobs like clicking on advertisements, visiting sites and signing up with them. However, such online jobs don’t pay well. A better Internet job for teens is to complete online surveys. These are quite simple surveys that usually ask one about his/ her opinions and ideas. Many companies use these ideas to make products designed for teenagers.

  72. What does the writer think of the job as a waiter/waitress?

  A. It needs a period of training.

  B. It pays much more than other jobs.

  C. It can improve one’s leadership skills.

  D. Making diners comfortable is part of the job.

  73. A student who is busy with his research paper will probably choose to work ______.

  A. in a restaurant

  B. in a library

  C. on the Internet

  D. in an IT company

  74. The writer wrote this text to ______.

  A. tell us the importance of doing part-time jobs

  B. advise teenagers how to choose a part-time job

  C. teach young people how to make lots of money

  D. introduce his/her experience of doing part-time jobs

  75. Why do some companies ask the teens to do surveys?

  A. The teens have more free time.

  B. They can pay less to the teens.

  C. They need advice to make products for teens.

  D. The teens usually express their true opinions.

  Dear Xiao Ming,

I am writing to share my opinion with you about making online friends. I don’t think it is a good idea to spend a lot of time making online friends. Here are my reasons.

First of all, you know nothing about your friends who you meet through the Internet, which is unsafe. Besides, your online friends cannot help you in case you get into trouble. What’s worse, there are many students who are taken in online. In my view, making friends online is a waste of time, which should be made full use of to study.

So we’d better make friends with our classmates because we meet them every day and we have a lot in common with each other. Do you agree with me?

  Yours,

  Li Hua

You may like the fat, happy man who brings presents to kids on Christmas Eve. But do you know why he’s called Santa Claus and why he is dressed in red? The history of Santa Claus begins in the 4th century with a man called Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas lived in Myra, which is now called Turkey. He came from a rich family, but he felt sorry for poor people and decided to give them all his money. Nicholas, though, was shy and didn’t want people to know he gave them money. So he climbed onto the roofs of houses on Christmas Eve and dropped bags of money down their chimneys. He wore red clothes when he did this. Nicholas died in 340 AD.
