  Unit 3

  Ⅰ. 1. 有一定范围的用none,相当于none of my new classmates。

根据the old man与wait之间的关系,应该选择 ing形式,再根据句意得知他是先“wait”后才“realize”。

“借助某种方法和手段”常用“by”; 而“with”强调使用工具,常与 with this method 搭配。

so far 迄今为止; so far this year应该与现在完成时连用。

In spite of repeated wrongs,后面应选择对人“友好的,友善的”。

go on 继续下去, 进行; hold on 稍等, 不挂断; move to 移到; carry on 继续开展, 坚持; go/come to sb.'s rescue 进行援救, 营救某人。

They just carried out the order as they were told.

appeared a rare rainbow为倒装形式。

What's the sense of…? ……

省略了…those who are seated…

  15. B not only…but also…句型,not only部分用部分倒装,but also用陈述语序。

go through“通过,穿到,审查,经历”。break through“突破,挤出,克服”;get through“到达(目的), 完成(任务),通过(议案)”;let through“让……

根据上文中的all the little things和后面的that从句的内容获得提示。

根据后面的some sort of idea获得提示。

  7. at/on 考查介词。固定短语look back at/on“回首看看”。

Ⅲ.1. 6 meters long 直接题。根据第一段“These frightful creatures can grow to be more than 6 meters long.”

2.Flat and winged 改写题。根据第一段“Their bodies are flat and winged, …”

  3. Steps/Ways

  4. its sharptoothed snout 直接题。根据第二段“When a sawfish is hungry, it waves its sharptoothed snout (口鼻部) through a group of fish.”

  5. Factors/ Reasons/ Causes

  6. People's fishcatching activities/ Human actions 直接题。根据第三段“…human actions have severely endangered sawfish.”

  7. giving birth/ breeding 改写题。根据第四段“Compared with other fish, sawfish give birth late in life and at slow rates,…

  8. Present/ Today's situation

  9. Aim/ Goal/ Purpose

  10. Providing protection 改写题。根据倒数第三段 “Beginning next month, an international agreement will provide protection for all seven of the world's sawfish species.”

根据条件句中对过去虚拟的运用形式:if+主语+had done,主语+would/could/should/might have done,故答案选B。

  4. B “要是……就不会……”,所以用wouldn't have understood。

表示“建议、请求、命令、要求、推荐”的动词后要用(should)+do的虚拟语气形式,devote sth. to doing sth.

wish,if only, would rather等词后用虚拟语气。

could have done sth.

If you had not worked hard for us last week或者If you had not helped us last week。

but for(=without, except for)若非,要不是。

英语中常用could/might/should/ought to have done这一结构表示“本应该做而没做”。

But for…
