体坛英语资讯：Beijing university cordons part of campus to receive U.S. Olympic delegation

BEIJING, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Beijing Normal University, which has been chosen by the U.S. delegation as its residence during the coming Olympic Games, has cordoned part of its campus for security concerns. The university administration divided the campus into two parts, according to a university source. The apartment buildings and stadium rented by the U.S. delegation have been cordoned by wires and every entry has been guarded. Even students and teachers at the university are not allowed in.

The U.S. delegation, said to have about 400 members, did not take residence in the Olympic Village but rented apartment buildings in the Beijing Normal University for six weeks at a cost of about 500,000 U.S. dollars.

The source did not release when the delegation will arrive but said that they will send staff to take charge of the apartments and stadium and then athletes will come.

Security measures are also tightened in the rest part of the campus. People other than students and the faculty are not allowed in and students are required to show their IDs to enter the campus.

Windows in higher buildings facing the area rented by the U.S. delegation have to be closed between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., according to the administration.

As the summer holiday has come, only a few students are staying on the campus. But they are looking forward to the delegation.

"I had planned to go home but postponed that because I hope to see sport stars," said a student surnamed Yu. "I am looking forward to seeing NBA star Kobe."
