Part-time Jobs
Nowadays, it is very popular for college students to take part-time jobs. Some students sell greeting cards, T-shirts and many other things. Many work in restaurants or shops. A lot more make money by teaching children in their spare time.
Part-time jobs offer invaluable experience for the students. For one thing , through the work the students will partly decrease the financial burden of thei r parents. For another, they can apply their knowledge in practice. and in return. their experience will make them know better what they have learned in class and from books. Whats more, part-time work experience gives the students an insight into the actual world and prepares them psychologically for their future careers.
On the other hand, part-time jobs can be disadvantageous to students if not properly handled. Part-time jobs will inevitably distract students attention from their studies and prevent them form learning and mastering what is needed in the future. Besides. with the earning the students may buy expensve items and develop a sense of luxury among them. In my opinion, the school authorities and parents should encourage students to take part-time jobs while helping them plan their time and money rationally.
