　　Could I speak to the headmaster,please?

　　这是一句打电话的用语，表示我要找校长说话，有关常用的打电话用语可有许多，例如：

　　Whos that（speaking）?

　　请问你是谁？

　　May I speak to Lucy,please?

　　我要找露西。

　　This is Mary（speaking）.

　　我是玛利。

　　Hold on for a moment,please.

　　请稍等一下。

　　Is that Lihua（speaking）?

　　是李华吗？

　　Im sorry he isnt here right now.

　　对不起，他现在不在。

　　【I would like to see him as soon as possible.】

　　I would like to see him as soon as possible.我想尽可能早一点见他。

　　As as possible 表示尽可能，第一个as 的后面加副词。例如：

　　Tell me the good news as soon as possible.

　　尽可能早得告诉我好消息。

　　You should come here as early as possible.

　　你应该早一点回来。

　　We have to run as fast as possible.

　　我们得尽可能快的跑。

　　【Are you able to come tomorrow?】

　　Are you able to come tomorrow?你明天能来吗？

　　Be able to 表示能，同can 含义基本一样，只是在时态上,can 不能用于将来时。例如：

　　I can carry that heavy box.

　　我能搬动那个重箱子。

　　I could do it.

　　我能做这件事。

　　The little girl is able to read book.

　　小女孩能看书了。

　　Ill be able to swim.

　　我将要能游泳了。

　　【Between 8:00and 9:00】

　　Between 8:00and 9:00.八点钟到九点钟之间。

　　Between 表示在两者之间，和among 是同义词，但后者表示在多数人或物之间。例如：

　　There is a park between the hospital and the school.

　　在医院和学校之间有一公园。

　　Can you tell me the difference between the two schools?

　　你能告诉我两个学校之间有什么区别吗？

　　I found there is a foreign student among them.

　　我发现他们当中有一外国学生。

　　【She says that she will leave a message on the headmasters desk.】

　　She says that she will leave a message on the headmasters desk.她说她要在校长桌子上留个纸条。

　　这是一个复合句。也就是说，在整个句子当中还有一个小句子。句子中从that开始到最后，就是一个句子，叫做宾语从句，宾语从句常由that 引导，在口语中常省略。例如：

　　I know （that）he is worker.

　　我知道他是一个工人。

　　I found that （there）is a bike in the trees.

　　我发现树林里有一辆自行车。

　　【Im afraid that Jim will miss a lot of his lessons.】

　　Im afraid that Jim will miss a lot of his lessons.我担心吉姆会耽误好多功课。

　　Miss 表示错过。例如：

　　Im sorry Im late.I missed the bus this morning.

　　对不起，我迟到了，我没赶上汽车。

　　Lets hurry up,or we may miss the train.

　　我们快点吧，要不就赶不上火车啦。
