　　The first day of the Lunar New Year is the welcoming of the gods of the heavens and earth.Many people abstain from meat on the first day of the new year because it is believed that this will ensure long and happy lives for them.

　　农历新年第一天要迎接天地神明。有些人会在这一天戒荤，因为他们相信这会保佑他们健康幸福。

　　On the second day, the Chinese pray to their ancestors as well as to all the gods. They are extra kind to dogs and feed them well as it is believed that the second day is the birthday of all dogs。

　　第二天，中国人会祭祀祖先和神明。他们会善待小狗，给它们喂食，据说新年第二天是所有狗的生日。

　　The third and fourth days are for the sons-in-laws to pay respect to their parents-in-law.

　　第三天和第四天是女婿给岳父岳母拜年的日子。

　　The fifth day is called Po Woo. On that day people stay home to welcome the God of Wealth. No one visits families and friends on the fifth day because it will bring both parties bad luck。

　　第五天被称为破五，这一天人们会呆在家里欢迎财神的到来。没人会在这一天走亲访友，因为这会给双方带来厄运。

　　On the sixth to the 10th day, the Chinese visit their relatives and friends freely. They also visit the temples to pray for good fortune and health.

　　第六天至第十天，人们会走亲访友，同时有的人会去寺庙祈福，祈求好运和健康。

　　The seventh day of the New Year is the day for farmers to display their produce. These farmers make a drink from seven types of vegetables to celebrate the occasion. The seventh day is also considered the birthday of human beings. Noodles are eaten to promote longevity and raw fish for success。

　　新年的第七天，农民们会摆出农产品。他们将七种蔬菜榨汁饮用来庆祝此刻。第七天也被认为是人类的生日。人们会吃长寿面来祈求长寿，同时供奉生鱼祈求成功。

　　On the eighth day the Fujian people have another family reunion dinner, and at midnight they pray to Tian Gong, the God of Heaven.

　　在第八天，福建人会再吃一顿团圆饭，在午夜他们会向天公祈福。

　　The ninth day is to make offerings to the Jade Emperor。

　　第九天要供奉玉皇大帝。

　　The 10th through the 12th are days that friends and relatives should be invited for dinner. After so much rich food, on the 13th day you should have simple rice congee and mustard greens to cleanse the system。

　　第十天到第十二天，邀请亲朋好友来吃饭。吃了这么多丰盛的食物后到了第十三天要吃一些清淡的粥和芥菜。

　　The 14th day should be for preparations to celebrate the Lantern Festival which is to be held on the 15th night.

　　第十四天用来准备过元宵节，元宵灯会会在第十五天晚上举行。
