汉语里,“马后炮”源出象棋——“马”后面加一颗“炮”,将对方的“军”,“马后炮”一出,对方就死棋了——常用来喻指“事后才发表‘真知灼见’”。英语中,短语“Monday-morning quarterback”也可表达相同的意思。
“Monday-morning quarterback”(字面以:周一早上的四分卫)最早见于1932年,源出美式橄榄球,原是用来调侃球迷在球赛后才发表“先见之明”的戏谑语。 足球场上,“quarterback”(四分卫)算是整个球队的主帅,每次进攻时,球一定要先传给四分卫,然后由“他”决定下一步的方案。由于四分卫的重要角色,球迷们在品评球赛时,常把四分卫做为一大看点。据载, 1932年某个星期一的早上,美国各大报纸铺天盖地挤满了评论员对上个周末球赛的评论,而评论语大多围绕“四分卫本该如何如何……”。于是,“Monday-morning quarterback”后常用来喻指“自作聪明的事后诸葛亮”。 下次如果听到谁说,“If I were you, I would have…”不待他说完,你就可以耻笑他,“You Monday-morning quarterback.”(你这个马后炮!)
