credit “功劳”、 “功绩”。give ... credit “承认……的优点”、 “信赖……”。

standard “基准的”、 “标准的”。

what ... is like “……是什么样”。

Yes, he has a lot of pull with that company.

(是， 他和那家公司有很深的交情。)

send是“派”。negotiate “谈判”。

a lot of “大量的”。pull with ... “与……的关系”。关系也可以用connections， 但是用pull也能很

好地表达这个意思。

He has a lot of connections with that company.

He has a lot of clout with that company.

(他在那家公司有很大的影响力。)

clout “影响力”、 “敲击”。have a lot of clout with “在……有很大的影响力”。

她很傲气。

She refuses to do it.

(她拒绝那么做。)

She is full of pride.

(她很傲气。)

refuse “拒绝”。

表达“傲气十足”不用high pride而用full of pride。

She is puffed up with pride.

be puffed up with “得意”、 “ 自满”。比full of pride的说法更具贬义。

She’s as proud as a peacock.

(她非常高傲。)

俚语。peacock “孔雀”。
