常见的英语习语

　　在英语学习中，有一些我们常常使用，但却在课本上没有出现过的英语习语，下面为同学们整理下常见的英语习语：

　　“Bite the dust的字面意思是咬住地面上的泥土，这个习语源于美国，现在人们用它来表示“击毙，献身等意思。句子中的"bit"是"bite"的过去分词。

　　2. I want a baker’s dozen.

　　“Baker's dozen是数字“13的意思而不是面包师那里的一打东西。

　　3. That show brought down the house.

　　“Bring down the house"在这里是形容演出异常精彩，受到了极大的欢迎的意思。

　　4. Today I got the axe.

　　"Get the axe"是指“被解雇了而不是“掌权或者得到斧子，力量。

　　"Hit the books"意思是“看书，学习。

　　"Cold shoulder"是一种不太礼貌的肢体语言，意思是“冷淡，轻视。
