ANKARA, Oct. 14 -- Chinese men's team of Sanda, or freefight, won five gold medals in the 11th World Wushu Competition (WWC) on Friday, the WWC organizing committee announced.
China's Li Kang, Wu Qiang, Ji Haitong, Huang Lei and Chen Yanjun won the gold medals of 56kg, 60kg, 75kg, 90kg and above 90kg levels respectively.
"I am satisfied with their performances especially the heavyweight given that European players are leading us decade ago. So we are not only catching up but also excelling," said Zhang Genxue, the head coach of China's Sanda team.
Huang Lei beat the Spanish opponent with only one round while Chen Yanjun beat the Ukrainian opponent with large score gap.
