前几天，老师让我参加竞赛，是口算比赛，我听了十分高兴。

A few days ago, the teacher asked me to participate in the contest, which is a mental arithmetic contest. I was very happy to hear it.

回到家，我把此事告诉了妈妈，妈妈也很高兴，还表扬了我呢！今天上数学课时，老师说：“今天下午放学后举行口算比赛”，并宣读了参加的人的名单，我听了名字，怎么没有我的名字？我很伤心，心想老师为什么不让我参加口算比赛，想了很久，认为可能是我写作业太慢了。

When I got home, I told my mother about it. My mother was very happy and praised me! Today, in math class, the teacher said, "this afternoon, after school, there will be a mental arithmetic competition", and read out the list of participants. I heard the name, why didn't I have my name? I was very sad, thinking why the teacher didn't let me take part in the mental arithmetic competition. I thought for a long time that maybe I was too slow in my homework.

回到家，我把此事告诉了妈妈，并且把我的分析的原因也告诉了妈妈，妈妈说：“嗯，可能是这个原因，今后一定要把做作业的速度提高上去，争取参加下一次的口算比赛”。

When I got home, I told my mother about this and the reason for my analysis. My mother said, "well, maybe it's this reason. In the future, we must improve the speed of doing homework and try to participate in the next oral arithmetic competition.".

我听了，下定决心要把写作业的速度提高。

I've heard that and I'm determined to speed up my homework.
