神奇的含羞草

我很久以前就听说过含羞草这种花了，但就是没有见过，也不知道它是不是真的会害羞。上个星期六，妈妈带我去了陈砦花卉市场。在那里看到有一个店铺里挂着“含羞草”的招牌。

我走进去一看，只见几个小花盆里栽着几棵瘦弱的小草，这不就是平常的小草吗？可卖花的阿姨却说这就是含羞草，于是我便请求妈妈给我买了一盆。这棵含羞草可真弱小，它的茎特别细，象铅笔芯一样，茎的上面只长着三片小叶子，我用手轻轻碰了下小叶子，叶子马上合在了一起，我又碰了一下，它就像睡觉似地理都不理我就耷拉下了头，太不可思议了。

This Mimosa is really weak and small. Its stem is very thin, like a pencil lead. There are only three small leaves on the top of the stem. I touched the small leaves with my hand. The leaves immediately closed together, and I touched them again. It looks like sleeping. It's like the geography doesn't pay attention to me, and then my head droops. It's incredible.

这到底是怎么一回事呢？我查了下《十万个为什么》这本书，原来含羞草对外界的刺激十分敏感，它的叶子里含有一种叫叶褥的细胞组织，里面充满水分。只要一受振动，叶褥里的水马上向上和两边流动。这样一来，叶褥下面的水没了，就会瘪下去，上面因充满水而鼓起，整个叶子于是就合拢折叠起来了。含羞草的老家在巴西，那里经常有狂风暴雨，有了这种本领，它就可以避免风雨的无情摧残了。哦，我明白了，含羞草会害羞，其实是在保护自己呀。
