一个孩子找到了我的劳力士

Some friends and I went hiking

今天我和一群朋友去徒步旅行

to a waterfall swimming hole today.

我们的目的地是一个瀑布戏水酒店

We get out there

我们去到游泳池边

and endure the initially very cold waters

忍受了乍然接触到刺骨的冷水的不适感

and climbing boulders

爬到了瀑布顶上

to jump off of.

从那里跳下水去

We're having a great time

我们玩得很开心

and about an hour in

大约一小时过去了

I realize my watch has come off.

我才发现自己的手表不见了

I start scanning the river bottom

我开始在瀑布底部的河床四面搜索

through the intermittent rays of good sunlight

透过间或射过来的灿烂阳光

but after an another hour

经过又一个小时的搜索

I'm starting to realize

我开始意识到

it's going to stay lost

怕是找不回来了

until I bring out some diving gear

我鼓起勇气拿出了潜水的器具

(it's cold enough to

水里的温度非常低

lose your breath very quickly

会让你短时间内无法呼吸

and hard see in shady spots).

阴暗的地方视野极差

A family overheard my buddies and I talking about it,

一家人无意间听到了我和朋友们的对话

"that sucks man",

“真糟糕”

"we'll come back out", ect....

“你一定会找到的”云云

They offer me some goggles

他们借给我一副护目镜

to make it easier to see down at the bottom.

这样更方便我查找水底深处的地方

I look for a while

我下水找了一会儿

until the father calls his teenage son over,

这时这家人中的父亲把他那个十多岁大的儿子翻了过来

"he's a great swimmer,

他是个游泳好手

he'll help you".

他会帮助你的

I'm like even more grateful at this point

闻说此话，我只能更加感激

because

因为我知道

stay under in the cold water was getting rough.

呆在冰冷刺骨的水里可是个苦差事

He searches for 10 minutes

他找了10分钟

and finds my watch!!!

果真找到了我的手表！

I thank him and his father

我向他和他的父亲表达了感谢

several times

一次一次的重复

and relief like a wave rushes over me.

欣慰的感觉像潮水一样袭来

I will be eternally grateful to that family.

我会永远对这家人心存感激
