Television dramas and movies cannot be broadcast or released online until they are reviewed and approved, according to a notice from China's top media watchdog.

根据我国媒体最高监管机构的通知，未通过审查的电视剧、电影不得在互联网上播出或发布。

The notice issued by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television tightened the review process on programs for smaller screens including smart TVs, computers, mobile phones and tablets.

国家资讯出版广电总局发布的这份通知收紧了对智能电视、电脑、手机和平板电脑等小屏幕上播出的节目的审查流程。

So-called "unabridged versions" or "internet versions" of programs and dramas, which are different from those broadcast by television stations, cannot be carried on small screens without approval, it was stated.
