JAKARTA, June 18 -- Japanese shuttler Sayaka Sato won the women's singles title at the Indonesia Open Super Series here on Sunday, outclassing South Korean Sung Ji Hyun 21-13, 17-21, 21-14 in the final.
Sato was emotional to vent her release over the victory in the tournament of which she lost to Indian player Saina Nehwal in the final in 2010.
"I failed 7 years ago here. I was so released that I finished the match with a victory. I have put it in my mind to win the tournament this time so as to improve my confidence in further international tournaments," Sato told a press conference after the final.
Sato became the first Japanese women's singles player to win Indonesia Open Super Series.
Sato earned 75,000 U.S. dollars for the title, while Sung Ji Hyun received 38,000 dollars of rewards.
