TIRANA, Oct. 9 -- Albania lost 1-0 to Italy Monday evening in a Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier.

Italy's Antonio Candeva scored the only goal in the 73rd minute.

The match in Shkodra's Loro Borici stadium was held under tightened security measures while many streets of the city remained blocked during the day as a security measure taken by Albanian authorities to guarantee safety of players and fans.
