Prince Philip's rumoured dislike for the Queen Mother is among the Royal gossip addressed in the first episode of the show. It is claimed that the Duke of Edinburgh, 94, tried to force her out of the Palace by turning off the heating.

In a voiceover for the show, viewers are told: 'Royal aids panicked as rumours grew about Philip having affairs. The affairs were denied and there was no evidence. But rumours persisted. Action was needed. In 1956 the Queen was advised to let Philip go away on a long overseas tour which should keep him out of trouble.'
