The London Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe described the standard of British annual fitness test that officers must complete as "too low".

Fat and unfit police must improve their physical condition or "we haven't got a job for them," he said.

Mandatory annual fitness tests came into force in England and Wales in 2017.
